MA in Higher Jewish Studies

COURSE OVERVIEW

This unique degree combining Hebrew textual analysis with a critical approach to Jewish Studies is a challenging yet engaging learning opportunity. The MA also forms part of the fourth and fifth years of the rabbinic programme.

Application form and Handbook

The MA programme can be taken either as a full or part-time course of study. In both cases, learners must complete a total of 180 credits in order to be awarded the degree within 12 months if full-time or four semesters if part-time. This is done through a combination of coursework and a dissertation of not more than 15,000 words which is worth 60 credits.  The remaining 120 credits are obtained through completion of the following modules:

Compulsory modules:

Methods and Foundations
Bible
Talmud and Midrash (three modules)

One elective

DURATION:

1 year (full-time) or up to 2 years (part-time)

ENTRY CRITERIA:

For students accepted on the Rabbinic Programme entry criteria for the MA are the successful completion of the Higher Jewish Studies Programme.

The degree is granted by Kings College, London in a joint programme with LBC.

UK and EU students
Full-Time - £2,800 pa

Overseas students
Full-time  - £7,500 pa
Continuation Fee - £500
Fees for Rabbis - £1,100 (in total)
