This year’s annual Summer Institute for Jewish Leadership follows four previous successful and popular events for Jewish lay leaders, rabbis and educators.
The Summer Institute is an intensive three day opportunity for those engaged in Jewish Leadership. Inspiring teachers with global experience of Jewish communities will help participants understand the rapid changes in Jewish community life through exploration of texts and community contexts.
This year’s programme will offer participants the stimulation, challenge and opportunity to explore how we might revitalise synagogues for the 21st century (59th century in Jewish time!). Event leaders include Rabbis Michael Shire and Richard Jacobi and Barry Schwartz of the Jewish Publication Society of America. On-line will be Professor Larry Hoffman of Hebrew Union College.
Who will be there with me? There will be rabbis and chairs of synagogues, council members and educators, rabbinic students and future Jewish leaders from this country and abroad.
All will have some experience in Jewish community life and come with questions and challenges about how to more deeply impact on community members and adapt to new and changing trends in community life.
All of the participants will be people who want to make a difference for others.
What will I learn?
Your own personal reflections on your motivations and goals will deepen and enrich your work as a professional or voluntary leader. Through interactive textual study you will see yourself in a chain of tradition, embedding Jewish values and consciousness into community leadership.
You will gain knowledge of innovations in Jewish community life, both here in the UK and from the USA, drawing upon Jewish, environmental and corporate models of change and adaptation for our changing world.
You will take away new principles and useful tools for your work in Jewish community life, with a supportive group of peers and guides upon whom to call in the future.
How will my community benefit?
