As the premier centre for Jewish professional development in the UK Leo Baeck College provides courses, seminars, summer schools, CPD credits and mentoring for communal professionals working in all sectors of the community.
Continuing Professional Development is a vital ingredient of any profession as individuals reflect on experience at work and develop their career and personal capabilities. New knowledge, new skills and personal growth are all elements of continuing professional development. The College provides CPD for the following:
- Rabbis
- Academic teaching staff
- Senior Management and Teachers of Jewish Day Schools
- Heads and teachers of Chedarim
- Youth Workers
- Communal Professionals especially those working in synagogues
- Lay leaders
Rabbinic In-Service Training
For the past 17 years Rabbinic In-Service Training (RIST) has worked to ensure that rabbis, when dealing with the practical needs of their congregations and the multi-dimensional demands of their work, have the opportunity to develop themselves and their skills.
Educational Conferences and Seminars
Full-day and half-day conferences for teachers in schools and congregations take place annually, at the Sternberg Centre and in Manchester.
Day Schools Support & Development
Forum for senior management teams of Jewish Day schools as well as Jewish Studies co-ordinators and Hebrew co-ordinators.
In-service training for Jewish day school teachers at twilight sessions in Jewish studies and Hebrew.
Summer Institute

A 3 day seminar for all those working with or for Jewish communities held in July each year. Using experts from around the world, participants enhance their leadership skills and gain useful insights into current leadership practice.
Israel Seminar
The Department of Jewish Education runs a seminar for senior educators in Israel every two years.
Head Teachers' Group
The Department for Jewish Education holds regular meetings for Head Teachers of Religion Schools to discuss topics relevant to schools.

Early Years
We provide consultation and support for head teachers with regular head teachers’ and Nitzanim meetings as well as training seminars.
Advanced Diploma in Professional Development
Choose from: Jewish Education: Community Development: Youth Work
A two year part-time course leading to an Advanced Diploma validated by London Metropolitan University. The Advanced Diploma has three pathways each for different professionals: Senior Educators, Communal Professionals and Youth Workers.
