The Leo Baeck College is unique – providing information, education and Rabbinic training for Judaism in the 21st century. The College is a centre for the training of rabbis and teachers – but it is also much more than that. Students can undertake long-term courses leading to degrees, diplomas and lifelong learning; or attend short-term intensives such as interfaith seminars, a Hebrew fortnight and weekly shiurim.
Leo Baeck students learn in a warm and collegial atmosphere – with teaching staff of the highest calibre and commitment, and library resources second to none. The study of religious traditions is infused with a love of Jewish learning – yet still described as being creative, diverse and inspiring. Rabbinic training is practical – focusing on leadership skills, organisational development and placement experiences, with special contemporary relevance.
The Leo Baeck College nurtures Jewish communities and schools in religious leadership and moral guidance – relevant to the way we live now. It offers an Advanced Diploma in Professional Development for Jewish Education, as well as foundation courses for Religion School teachers. A library well stocked with teaching resources is available and open to all. In addition, the College provides consultancy support for communities and congregations, together with a programme of development in Jewish day schools.
At Leo Baeck College, we reach out to support the growth of today’s Jewish communities across Europe and beyond. Staff attend and participate in the European Regions Conference – and we warmly welcome students from as far afield as Israel and Russia. The College goes from strength to strength; the campus is undergoing a programme of renovation and refurbishment – to include a large primary school together with a prestigious and accessible new library, attracting interest and participation from progressive people everywhere.
