Three pathways are being offered:
1. Jewish Education
2. Jewish Communities
3. Jewish Youth Work
The Jewish Education Pathway
MODULE 1 - Educational Leadership:
Philosophical, psychological and curricula issues facing the Jewish Educational Leader.
MODULE 2 - Supervision & Curriculum Development:
Theory and practice of curriculum development and staff supervision.
MODULE 3 - Personal and Professional Development of the Senior Educator:
Covers administration, staffing, resources, school structure, team building and communication skills.
MODULE 4 - Jewish Studies:
One semester course in an aspect of Judaism
MODULE 5 - Israel Seminar:
A ten-day seminar in Israel to explore our relationship with the land, its people and history.
MODULE 6 - Research & Development:
A personal project is developed with students undertaking small empirical research. Students will be introduced to a range of issues and research methods.
Jewish Community Pathway
Modules 1 and 2 will take place at London Metropolitan University. Students choose from courses in Business, Financial Management and Human Resources. Students join the Jewish Education pathway for modules 3-6.
Jewish Youth Work Pathway
Modules 1, 2 and 3 take place at Leo Baeck College on the theory and practice of Jewish Youth Work The student as reflective practitioner is developed Students join the Jewish Education pathway for modules 4-6.Duration:
Two years (part-time).
Entry Criteria:
Candidates will be from a wide range of academic and other backgrounds.
All candidates should normally meet the following requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent professional qualification and/or successful completion of the LBC Foundation Course for Religion School Teachers.
Current employment in a Jewish school, Jewish Youth organisation or other Jewish organisation.
Admission:
Once application forms are received, candidates may be asked to write a qualifying essay. Candidates are notified by post if their applications are successful.
Course Fee:
ADVANCED DIPLOMA £2,200 pa
